These kits come in different diameters and contain rubber washers and a plastic ring than can raise the drain up to 12 inch above its original height. Clean the inside and the top of the original shower drain in the floor. Use a bathroom surface cleaner to remove any mold, mildew and dirt that may have accumulated. Place a piece of tile next to the original drain. Make sure you take into consideration the approximate 18 inch of grout beneath the tile when adding the washers. Position the plastic ring on top of the washers. You can remove one or more washers if adding the plastic ring raises the drain height above the tile. You can also purchase an additional kit if you need more than three washers to raise the drain height.
